Step-By-Step Weekly Pool Care Maintenance Checklist
Step 1: Empty the pump and skimmer basket
Step 2: Run the pump for at least 8-12 hours a day to keep water clean. Run for longer if needed to clean up cloudy water or other issues.
Step 3: Skim the pool surface for leaves, bugs, and other floating debris.
Step 4: Vacuum to remove dirt and debris from the pool floor.
Step 5: Brush pool walls and surfaces 2x a week.
Step 6: Test the water at least once a week with pool water test strips or a test kit.
Step 7: Balance the pool water pH, total alkalinity, and calcium hardness if needed.
Step 9: Shock/oxidize the pool once a week, more if needed.
Step 11: Note filter pressure and backwash if necessary
Step 12: Clean filter if needed. Chemically clean filter 2x a season with Strip Kwik.
Step 13: Check water level and adjust as needed
Step 14: Take inventory of supplies and re-order any swimming pool chemicals or products you are running low on
